Because... because... nearly all the scrummiest things are packed chocablock with calories until they drip out the sides and down your chin.

But I did buy some really yummy strawberries on the market this morning.

Your body's only goal is survival, not in looking aesthetically pleasing (which is only a reflection of the current trends). Food shortage in modern society is not the main challenge we face as we did in the past but our bodies haven't 'caught up' with this notion yet. So, the body hordes the calories as it's not sure when the next meal may be and resists any attempt to shed this surplus.

Plus, as Gray Hill pointed out, most things that taste good are packed with calories. Choosing to adopt a healthier diet requires concerted effort in terms of food choices and a larger budget as most things healthy cost relatively more.

The media are constantly bombarding us with the latest 'lose weight quick & effortlessly' miracle discovery. Unfortunately, there's no way around it, if you want to lose weight, it's gonna take effort, discipline and patience.
