Does the new Cadw building in Caerwent, and recent Time Team dig authorised by Cadw, mean that Cadw are looking to build up their activities in the area?

The town is a real 'hidden gem' - I'm always amazed how few people seem to know the mass of history you can discover there. Are Cadw planning on marketing this at all? What do folk think about Caerwent drawing in more tourists?

We've always been interested in Roman history and I agree with you that it's a "hidden gem". We've alerted a few extra people to the history of Caerwent (through our hobby of geocaching) and we often get comments like "I've lived locally for 15 years and never realised there was so much to see at Caerwent..."

A few years back I recall hearing that the old school was going to be made into a Visitors' Centre but, as with many such projects, I guess that'll happen when the money is available... so don't hold your breath ;)
